If you are worried about getting stranded, get one of those little booster packs. Once the voltage drops below 10V while cranking, you should plan on replacing the battery. Pretty much every lead acid battery you get will be made by one of a few manufacturers that brand them for various suppliers. One brand people are still praising is Odyssey batteries, though I have no personal experience. The conclusion was that they have been coasting on their reputation and even worse, there are many reports of difficulty in getting them warrantied. When mine went bad and I spent far too much time researching and asking around. The original ones were amazing and I had one that lasted over 14 years in AZ, which is unheard of, since batteries rarely last over two years here.
